This study involved a campus-wide review of the development potential of a range of sites, establishing both the quantity and quality of development that could be supported in the central city. The study identified high-level urban design issues associated with each site, as well as for the campus as a whole, and its relationship with the surrounding city.
Warren and Mahoney was subsequently engaged in the preparation of a detailed design assessment of two of the potential sites, being Sector 400N for the proposed expansion of the Architecture and Engineering Schools (in concert with Moller Architects). This work occurred within a multi-disciplined urban design and master-planning design programme led by the University’s internal team. Associated with this Warren and Mahoney also master-planned Sector 400S for the development of a residential village for student accommodation. The first stage of this project – University of Auckland Hall of Residence - is proceeding.
