The Auckland Performing Arts Centre is comprised of two dedicated dance and drama studios, and a studio theatre with flexible seating for up to 144.
The centre is designed to foster a collaborative relationship between the different performing arts disciplines and to provide an environment for experimentation within the built fabric. Spaces can be adapted to engage with participants and observers in an intimate setting. Alternatively, they can be opened up to the expansive fields that bound the west elevation.
The development was undertaken by TAPAC, a partnership between The Performing Arts School and Western Springs College, in association with Auckland City Council. While the centre is primarily an educational facility for the TAPAC partners, it is also available for use by community groups and professionals.
