A vision for growth and sustainability of Tauranga’s sporting hub has resulted in a flexible, multi-purpose arena to serve the cultural, social and sporting needs of the rapidly expanding city.
Designed as a community-based sports venue currently being constructed on Tauranga City Council's newly acquired Baypark Speedway site, this centre will provide six community and three premier netball courts.
A two level central amenity core housing administration, food and beverage facilities, change rooms and corporate facilities, separates the two sports halls. Both halls are designed to be multi-use and provide maximum flexibility to host not only a large range of court sports up to national level, but also exhibitions, events and rock concerts. The three-court premier hall will seat 3,000 spectators on retractable and fixed seating.
The centre is designed to integrate with the existing speedway and form a sporting / events hub for the rapidly expanding city of Tauranga.
