Southern Cross Hospital

The requirement for high quality hospital facilities is imperative; hence the alterations and extensions to Christchurch’s largest healthcare provider whereby Warren and Mahoney provided a new contemporary approach to design. 

The centrally situated Southern Cross Hospital is one of the biggest private hospitals in the South Island and provides services to around 9500 patients each year. 

The project involved the development of alterations and extensions alongside the existing hospital to provide two new operating theatres (with ‘I’ suite technology), new recovery ward, CSSD, Day Stay Unit and a 40-bed ward refurbishment. 

The design provides a contemporary new focus and iconic landmark for New Zealand’s largest private healthcare provider.
