Singapore High Commission

The existing Singapore High Commission building was designed to a very high standard when constructed in 1976. The subsequent extensive redevelopment and upgrade of the building addresses current and future needs.

The new building follows the existing plan and built form to deliver a contemporary facility. Designed for the future, the building uses robust materials, embraces environmentally sustainable design principles and provides comfortable accommodation for the High Commission Chancery and Residence.

The site, elevated above Wellington city, shares grand harbour and hillside views oriented to the south east. The planning and landscaping addresses security, privacy and separation elements of the Consulate, Reception Functions and the Commissioner’s residence.

These three key functions are each located under a gabled roof form. The roof will be  reclad in zinc and the external walls in Hinuera stone veneer. The interiors will be remodelled and fully refurbished with contemporary materials, and new and traditional furniture.

Providing elegant, appropriate and comfortable accommodation.
