Kawarau Falls

The development of the Kawarau Falls site at the eastern grid of the Frankton Arm in Queenstown is one of the last remaining sites with raparian rights in the Queenstown area. It is bounded by the Kawarau Bridge, Peninsula Road to the rear, a reserve at the eastern end and has lake frontages. The site is approximately 6.5 hectares in area and contains large natural rock features.

Commissioned initially for master planning/Concept Design for a total site development. The site development and activities include multi-unit housing of a variety of types and densities from hotel/serviced apartments to luxury housing units with lake frontage.

The development comprises approximately 300-500 units and includes marina berths, lay-up jetties and facilities for commercial boating and ferries. Commercial components such as cafes and bars, general retail, offices, and a health spa are included as well as recreational facilities including boating, tennis, swimming and passive activities.

The design approach embraces environmental sustainability principles and envisages achieving a new architecture with a strong regional focus.

Strong regional identity.
