Heritage Hotel & Conference Centre

Located in an alpine environment overlooking Lake Wakitipu this 4 star resort was completed in 1996. Comprising 170 accommodation rooms over 3 buildings which have been arranged around a central lodge complex houses reception, restaurant/bar and spa/pool facilities to compliment the guest  experience on site.

Constructed in 12 months required careful planning and off-site prefabrication of the build to enable a high quality of finish within the programme. Externally the building engages with the environment with the use of natural materials such as schist, cedar and precast concrete which age and patina over time.

In 2007 Warren and Mahoney was engaged to design a 200 seat conference and event centre to complement the existing hotel complete with roof top marquee capacity, commercial kitchen and bar facility. The Conference space is lozenge-shaped in plan which reconciles the angles of the awkward shaped site (space between accommodation buildings), resulting in an organic appearance. The shape of the space offers a non-prescriptive, versatile space that can be arranged in many ways.

The new building has a strong identity but at the same time a respectful relationship with the existing buildings.

the building engages with the environment with the use of natural materials.
