The Deloitte Centre, designed by Warren and Mahoney in association with Woods Bagot, has the distinction of being New Zealand’s first 5 star Greenstar commercial high-rise building.
For the interior fit-out of Deloitte’s own space within this landmark development, Warren and Mahoney worked with Geyer to develop an environment which reflects Deloitte’s brand values and cultural aspirations. In particular, Deloitte wanted an environment that would suggest an honest, straight-forward organisation with impeccable integrity; an organisation that was innovative and committed to sustainability; an organisation determined to attract, develop and retain the very best employees.
The concept developed for the new workplace was one of fluid connectivity. And the ancient Waitemata stream that runs beneath the site became a metaphor for the connection of this new Deloitte office both to the world of New Zealand business and to Deloitte’s global partners.
The design approach focused on grid-based modules populating the floor area around the required built zone. Strong vistas, transparency, and easy access to technology create connectivity within the work environment, while a restrained, clean-lined client floor features timber detailing and articulated ceiling treatments, emphasising vistas to the Waitemata Harbour.
Perforated and illuminated timber panels trailing to and from the connecting stairs create a ‘digital stream’ throughout the client and training floors. And meeting rooms use glazing to maintain a sense of transparency, and technology to facilitate global communication.
One of the client’s key objectives was to offer spaces to satisfy a diversity of work styles. This was been achieved by creating a variety of shared environments, including a custom workstation kit-of-parts, formal and informal meeting areas, quiet rooms, flexible learning-training spaces, and project desks. The incorporation of VOIP and wireless technology across working floors enable plug-and-play for individual or shared working.
To support the organisation as it embraces innovation and learning as a strategy for sustainable business, the fit-out included a dedicated client area interconnected with learning-training facilities with high quality amenities and improved technology, and flexible meeting/function spaces catering for up to 200 people.

The end result for Deloitte was a clear reflection of the brief that had been developed and socialised within key parts of the firm and was beyond user and client expectations. Feedback has been extremely positive from both internal and external people and the overall result reflects the professional organisation that Deloitte projects in the market.
