Simon joined Warren and Mahoney in 2003, returning to Auckland after 15 years working in London. He was appointed Senior Associate in 2007. Simon’s experience includes a broad range of building types, component design, landscaping - both soft and hard, and master planning both external and internal environments and exhibitions.
Initially attracted to the practice by the honesty of materiality expressed in the Warren and Mahoney oeuvre, he continues to strive for clear articulation of integrated design solutions whatever the scale. Simon continues to develop whenever possible his existing expertise in Heritage and Conservation work. Allied to this is a complementary expertise in sustainability issues in his role as a Green Star NZ Accredited Professional.
Simon is committed to providing a responsive design-led team, liaising closely with client representatives to ensure a total meshing of brief requirements into the delivered product, be it building, component, urban space or strategic plan. Maintaining currency of technical design skills and commitment to the principles of continuing professional development, including materials research, enables him to lead projects of seemingly unrelated typologies.
